Clockmakers’ Centrepiece 2023

A recent commission in silver for the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers.

Silver centrepiece designed, hand engraved and formed on a tree stump by Anna Ólafsson, complete with a bespoke presentation case designed and made by the artist.

The piece was inspired by the Clockmakers’ heraldry, in particular the figure of Chronos, as well as images of tree rings, symbolic of the passage of time. The creatures depicted inhabit the Perthshire countryside where the artist lives and works. Hallmarked at the Edinburgh Assay Office, January 2023.

The work joins a collection of silver dating back to 1631 at the Clockmakers’ Museum, housed within the Science Museum, South Kensington, London.
